At the above mentioned meeting, there will be a round table discussion to "introduce the project to revise the New American Bible New Testament, undertaken by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. The Board of Editors for the project will be available to present the process to be used, the rationale for the project, the approved principles of translation, and opportunities for input into the revision project."

I had a sneaking feeling that was you! I enjoy the interactions, although when we talk about the NAB on there the discussion rarely focuses on facts, but rather heresay, what other people think about the NAB, and alleged Masonic/modernist plots! :)

Masonic/Modernist plots! LOL!!! The paranoia is actually disturbing sometimes. But you know what? Even if that WAS true and some type of 'force' infiltrated the Church and is mucking things up, i still believe we need to obey and trust God that he will correct it. So why all the fuss and bother and worry ya know?
I just posted something about this on my blog. The Lord is speaking to me BIG time about this - trust and obedience.

Man this process is slow! Didn't the committee revise Psalms in less than a year? By the time they're done English will be a dead language.
I have a sneaking hunch the NT revision will ruin the Protestant enthusiasm about it. You don't suppose they might leave the current version in prrint--or prepare an alternate personal study version?

I would say that since there will be Protestant representation on this translation team, I don't think you have much to worry about. The Church is committed to creating translations with at least some Protestant participation. That said, I am not sure I have actually met, in person, any Protestant who carries and uses a NAB.

I do. Not as my primary Bible, let alone my only one, but I do. Admittedly some of my co-religionists doubt my Protestant creds, but technically at least I do qualify.

As a protestast, I approached NABre cautiously. I poked it with a stick a few times while I was hiding behind a partly closed door. Upon studying from it, it is the equal of NRSV in the Old Testament; but it is much stronger in Psalms and the New Testament than is any other contemporary translation.
