Knox Bible Review

Reader Shazamaholic has done a very nice review on his blog of the Knox Bible that he won during a contest I had on this blog last year. So check it out!

"Isiah 7:14 has "maid" instead of "virgin"."

Actually, the verse reads “Maid shall be brought to bed of a son.”

"This rendering, which takes all portent out of the prophesied event — meant to be a wondrous sign from God — completely discredits the inviolate virginity of Our Lord’s Mother and the virginal manner of His birth."

In the copy I have, Isiah 7:14 reads;
"Maid shall be with child and shall bear a son, that shall be called Emmanuel."

And to think, Baronius press has this bible 'in the works'.

Yet they waste time, effort and money on their breviary which is getting pushed back year after year.

Its a shame the Knox Bible isn't readily available, even if only from a literary standpoint, more people should have the chance to read it. It's a piece of literary history that has sadly been forgotten.

Come on Baronius!
