I used to get hung up on reading the one the most people approved of. Now I just read an approved one that I'm drawn to and enjoy. The nice large print really helps too. :)

This is great advice. Approved versions of Scripture should be first and foremost - but any bible that you'll read is the right choice.*

* Just kidding, you should only be reading the RSV:2CE

This is not related to the picture but I'm just wondering why Luke 1:28 includes "blessed art thou among women" in the Vulgate,Douay-Rheims, and Knox Bibles while it is left out in most translations.

Christian Ang,

Luke 1:28 does not include "blessed are thou among women" (KJV, D-R) because most modern scholars believe that it is an insertion from verse 42 of the same chapter.

Luke 1:28 KJV:
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Luke 1:42 KJV:
and she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

It appears that some scribes inserted the 'blessed are you among women in verse 28 because they were so used to praying the Hail Mary that they didn't realize that it combines parts of two verses, those two phrases don't appear in one verse together.

Notice the word play that Jesus used in the last strip?

"No, the one that speaks to you, girl."

Jesus may be speaking here of the version that speaks to her heart, or
Jesus may be referring to himself.

Thank you for the clarification, May God Bless You

That comic strip is priceless! I know several people that could really use a very liberal dose of that coffee!
