Update on Leather Didache RSV (Updated)

From reader Dominic (and Eric), who received the following info via an email from Ignatius:

Please be advised that the leather Didache Bible should now be available in mid-May. Our co-publisher found a printer whose quality was satisfactory and they should be shipping from the printer at the end of April.
Update: Ignatius is taking pre-orders.

Any word on what kind of leather will be used?

I assume it will be bonded leather because that is what was being offered before they had the production problem.

It has to be bonded leather or simulated leather. It's against canon law to use real leather and, in fact, a mortal sin to use goat or pig skin.

Lord save us from a classic beautifully bound bible, the thought causes me angst.

Peter,

Amen brother!

Somebody please consider making a premium Bible in goat.

At least, the binding is allegedly sewn, so rebinding remains an option.

Mark Brumley, President of Ignatius Press, is a friend on Facebook. I'm waiting for the chance to pounce on him requesting a limited run of a real leather RSV-CE2, fully aware that the request may make him apoplectic, but appealing to his Protestant history and, perhaps, shaming him into it.

Was there any update on the release of the NABRE Didache?

I should have some new info about the NABrE soon. And by soon I likely mean after Easter. I can assure you it is happening and will be available this year.

I don't really care about the translation, I just don't understand how it can be 2015 and they don't seem to have an e-book edition of the Didache Bible planned, E-books outsell paper books by a margin of 2 or 3 to 1. Not releasing an e-book edition will really hurt overall sales.

e-book in Verbum would be appreciated : )

From Ignatius Press on May 28, 2015:

I’ve been informed that the Didache (leather) Bibles are in the truck on their way out here from Nashville, TN. Midwest Theological Forum (they’re actually our co-publisher for this title) is in Chicago so they probably received their copies slightly earlier, but we’re hoping to have ours in stock by next week (6/1). Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Best,
Marianna (Pedrelli, Ignatius Press)
