I was recently talking with someone and I recalled that there is a common misunderstanding of the meaning of the Biblical phrase “the flesh.” There are many references to “the flesh” in New Testament Scripture, especially in the letters of St. Paul. (Keep in mind, the RSV, NRSV, and NAB(RE) generally translate sarx as "the flesh" in most instances.)
