CSS Bible

As reported elsewhere, Catholic Scripture Study International and Saint Benedict Press are collaborating on an enhanced edition of the RSV-CE. Due out in Fall 2010, this edition will include apologetics material as well as other helpful supplements. For more info, you can check out their recent announcement here.

(Thank you to Sharon and Keith for the heads up on this.)

Too early to tell of course but going just by the advertisment it seems like the ICSBNT is better as it seems to have all that the exrtas that CSS Bible has but more: it also includes the annotations, footnotes, word studies, etc. Of course the CSS has the Old Testament but still...without the annotations etc one couold always just refer to the Ignatius RSV-CE2.

Diakonos,

I don't expect there to be any comprehensive commentary matching the ICSB. My guess, at this point, is that the apologetics info and such will be simply page inserts and additional info in an appendix. Perhaps like the Catholc Answer Bible.

Yeah that's exactly the Bible edition that came to mind when I read the CSS advertisment. Seems like they would have done some market research to make the CSS uniquely different from what's available. Knowing how CSS has such an extensive Bible Study priogram and excellent methods, I thought that perhaos they would add some "Bible Studies" at the end of each book or whatnot. THAT would make it unique.
