A reader requested an additional photo of the Knox Bible, showing a closer view of a full page. This is a photo from Job 6-7, which shows the verse numbering is on the side, as well as a sample of the notes.
Are you looking specificially for this edition? I have an extra Knox hardcover, without the ribbonmarker, but in average condition that I would be willing to part with.
Timothy, I received my copy of the Ignatius Study Bible - NT (in leather) today. The bonded leather is similiar to the bonded leather of the RSV-2CE Ignatius Bible. The Bible lays flat when put on a table and when held in one hand, it lays flat in the hand making it very easy to read if it were being used for a Bible Study class or another presentation. The page edges are gold, and my copy does not show any wavy pages. The corner edge of the paper is rounded off. There are two gold ribben markers. Overall I am very happy with this Study Bible, it feels good in the hand despite its size, and looks nice also. I will be using this for Bible Study and devotional reading.
Sweet to hear your thoughts on the leather edition. Just checked Amazon and my leatherbound edition should be on the way. Very nice to hear it has a couple of ribbons too.
Thanks for your kind offer, but I think you should sell your old copy to someone else -- I think I will wait for the Baronius Press edition. Looking at the used prices, I believe you should be able to demand a premium price for old edition.
I do appreciate the photos though -- the copy you have is simply outstanding, and I enjoy the vicarious thrill of seeing you make such an outstanding acquisition.
Theophrastus, The text block is between 1 1/2 & 1 3/4 inches thick. It feels like the same paper, it may just lay better in the leather cover, or I received a good copy.
I find for myself, I hardcovers have some advantage: hardcovers can always lie flat, they are easy to store on bookshelves, and they are usually cheaper than leather bindings. On the other hand, I think that leather makes a lot of sense when one is carrying around a Bible (or otherwise subjecting it to a lot of wear and tear), or when one is holding it open in one's hand, or when one simply wants a beautiful looking book.
On the other hand, the ribbons are definitely nice; and the gilting sounds good too (please let us know how it stands up after a few months!) I hope you read your copy in good health and that it helps you in your personal Bible studies.

If the Baronius edition disappoints, I'll have to keep my eyes open for an edition like this.

Now I am quite curious about whether Ignatius used different paper for the text block, or just gilded the paper.
Could I ask you to measure the text block -- is it 1 inch thick? 2 inches thick?
