LRCSB Deluxe Edition

It seems that the Deluxe Edition of the Little Rock Catholic Study Bible (NABRE) will be available again in the coming months, according to Liturgical Press.  The Liturgical Press website is taking pre-orders, with a publication date of mid-June.

Enhance your Bible study with this elegant, limited edition of the Little Rock Catholic Study Bible with a beautiful embossed, brown, leather-like cover. Gold, gilt-edged pages, ribbon markers, plus a presentation page and three family tree pages also make it a perfect family Bible or gift.

You can read a couple of reviews of the LRCSB from this blog here and here.  If this is something you are interested in getting, I'd recommend getting it sooner rather than later.  It sold out pretty quickly last time around.

Any chance this time around it will have a sewn binding?

Believe you me, there's nothing quite like a "beautiful embossed, brown, leather-like cover". WOW!

I'll take two just for the cover.

The quality is very good. I had one and gave it away last year. The leather is soft and as I recall real. The cover is flexible, well bound and feels quite nice in hand. It is ine of tge heaviest bibles I've owned so get a cart, basket, backpack . . . if you plan on taking it to study or mass etc.

The text font size is very readable, the translatio note sise acceptable to good, the inset note size good. The dencity of fo t and the kerning make it very reasonable. It is one among few single column Catholic bibles.

The general notes and introduction are general/devotional/liturgical. I found the paged busy and very Protestant study bible looking. I think for some foljs thiz would be very appealing. The NABRE cross reference system is tonme highly attractively laid out, easy to and navigate and not distracting. The notes overall were too general for me but for others they would be just tge ticket.

I felt I needed to release myself of so many bibles and having a very readable NABRE already and not needing the specific set of L.R. notes I was grateful to see it gotgo it someone who woukd benefit more.

Again, apologies for the nasty spelling etc in my comment. Even I wonder what I meant in some places above as I read it now.

Typing on a mobile device is a convenience I should resist. However, I won't so thanks for bearing with it.

Owen, I just bought my first smartphone (i phone 6) so I can relate to your dilemma. But they sure are nice!

I like this deluxe edition (as I probably wrote somewhere on this blog before) over the hardcover for three reasons:
1) two ribbon markers
2) nice flexible synthetic cover (with nice imprint of a Celtic cross on front cover
3) darker print than hardcover (this was at the time I bought it several years ago). I think at that time Little Rock had switched printers for this edition but that may have changed now.

I like this version in general because of the single column print with size 10 font size and it nice page layout (especially the cross references).

As to the question about a sewn binding, my LRCSB deluxe edition has a sewn binding. Maybe someone who has the hardcover can check theirs.

rolf - android here but same finger error vrs auto-correct errors :)

Yes two ribbons; forgot that.

The synthetic cover in this case is nice feeling and a decent fake leather.

I worked in a mom n pop book store when the hardcover came out. We had complaints about the binding.

Happily this edition is, as you note, sewn.

Unlike the Didache Bible and the Knox Bible, this is available as an ebook!

There goes my hope of a super-deluxe edition with the art from St John's Bible :-(

tuckleong, I feel your pain! If I had a spare $100,000 I would buy a Heritage Edition of the Saint John's Bible! But then I would have to sleep in a tent, I would have to walk to work, and I would have to find a new wife.
