A Reader's Question

Greetings, I wasn't sure were to post my question (if you'd be so kind as to answer it)? I was looking for a commentary for using the NABRE for Lectio Divina, is there any spiritual commentaries you'd recommend?

Any thoughts?  My initial thought would be the Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture.  Although it isn't specifically a spiritual commentary, it certainly has that component in it.

That's the one I'd recommend as well.

You might want to try The Catholic Prayer Bible: Lectio Divina Edition . It is NRSV but very nice for a whole Bible guide to LD.

Hey Tim, no need to publish this since I know your blog title isn't "Bash IP", but thought it was interesting that I'm not alone in thinking IP not particularly customer-focused. From Fr. Zs blog:

This is shabby on the part of Ignatius Press. I am told that, at least, they got the pages in the right order this time. They screwed up the first release of the collected works on liturgy by Joseph Ratzinger, not that that book was important.

And then they refused to replace mine, which was a gift.

I am not pleased at this moment with IP, as you might have been able to tell.

Shabby as it is, that doesn’t mean that this book is not important.

It will be worth the wait for the paperback. You can get the Kindle version now.

So, do support this book, even if Ignatius Press is making it as hard as possible for you to spend your hard earned money and get the product they apparently want to sell you.

I am sure there are all sorts of explanations… blah blah blah.

TS,

I decided to post your comment, since I think it is quite relevant. You combine these things mentioned from Fr Z's site along with how long it has taken to do the ICSB and the delay on the Didache Bible and you have to wonder what is going on. Not having the print edition ready on the synod topic seems unbelievable, yet it is true.

I am interested to hear what others think?

Just for info; I received the fall book, DVD and music catalog from Ignatius Press and it does have 'The Didache Bible in it. It shows a release date of December 15 (I hope that is December 2014).
