Pope Francis

O God, the Shepherd and Ruler of all Your faithful people, mercifully look upon Your servant, Francis, whom You have chosen as the chief Shepherd to preside over Your Church. We beg You to help him edify, both by word and example, those over whom he has charge, that he may reach everlasting life together with the flock entrusted to him.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

A lot of firsts here, first Argentinian, first Jesuit, first Pope from Latin America, first non-European in I don't even know how long, and first Pope to call himself 'Francis'....that's a lot to take in at one moment...

I loved his leading the people in prayer for Benedict and then asking for the people to pray for him, before he gave his blessing. Amazing moments!

What a breath of fresh air for the Church and what a hope for reform and renewal. A bishop who refuses to live in a mansion but rather in an apartment and who take public transportation rather than his episcopal limousine. Add to this a solid theological and spiritual man and what do you have? Pope Francis. Viva!

Jesuits take a fourth oath to obey the Pope in all things. What happens now? Constitutional Crisis, SJ?
