I've been using The Message and am warming to it. It has been my "daily driver" for Bible reading for awhile now, taking the place of my NABRE and Oxford Study Bible NEB on my reading table. The Message is good -- a bit jarring in places and sometimes the language already seems stilted or out of date (the risk in this kind,of translation), but overall is is quite readable.
He has a really low view of what Scripture is doesn't he? Scripture is not the word of God? It is just writings by good story tellers that people thought were useful? Wow, that was interesting.
