So, I posted at the "community" part of the NRSV main site back in early August. Well, it only took three months for the comment to be posted! I am not exactly sure why they even have a website devoted to the NRSV if they are not going to keep it updated. One would think with the backing of HarperCollins, there would be some good potential for a well-run site. Yet, that isn't the case.
Also, I have noticed that the NRSV has been selling better in recent months, according to the CBA Best Sellers. I would imagine that a better, more interactive website would help in the promotion and sales of the NRSV. They could do well to look at the ESV and TNIV sites. Perhaps someday the folks at the USCCB will do the same for the NAB and Ignatius Press for the RSV-2CE, but that might be asking too much.

There's something about the NCCC not being overly commercialized, perhaps a fear? I don't know. But marketing is a fact of life. HarperCollins has used good marketing and look at the fruits of it, the NRSV has done much better than in the past. Okay, I'm venting.
Of course, the CBA numbers only measure the number of Bibles being sold at CBA member stores, which are overwhelmingly evangelical Protestant, which is why Catholic translations show up there.
So, if the NRSV is going up in the CBA standings it means that a lot more evangelicals are buying it, which seems odd since it is not an evangelical Bible, and in fact many evangelical translations are actually a reaction against the NRSV.
