Good Luck Ordering These

I was able to obtain the original hardback version without too much trouble. I had to place the order on their website and they corresponded to me via email. I got their bank info and transferred the money via Western Union. It took about 3 weeks to receive the book after payment.

Very tempting. They still list only the original hardcover on the ATC website and none of the other editions listed on the advert.

But I think I will wait, to see if other formats become available by ATC or if the U.S. publisher provides an edition.

Also any gossip about the Word on Fire Bible?

What is the "PU - BLUE" edition?

I'm tempted but may wait a bit to see if a US publisher comes out with an edition.

In the meantime I switched from the RSV to the RSV-2CE for my daily reading. I'm aware of the issues with the RSV-2CE, but I am enjoying it. In the Psalms in particular, I do enjoy the lack of archaic language, and the 2CE does do some minor updates that are nice.

Here's a curious difference I came across the other day, Psalm 139:14:

RSV:
I praise thee, for thou art fearful and wonderful.
Wonderful are thy works!
Thou knowest me right well.

RSV-2CE:
I praise you, for I am wondrously made.
Wonderful are your works!
You know me right well.

The ESV, NRSV, and NABRE are all similar to the 2CE in meaning. I particularly like the ESV and NRSV (after the KJ): "for I am fearfully and wonderfully made."

I was pleased to see this change RSV-2CE. As the father of a special needs child, this passage means a lot to me (from the ESV):

For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.

I wish I knew if these were floppy or stiff. Either way, there are no payment options for me here in Japan. If they ever come out with a floppy genuine leather edition I'd be tempted to take a vacation in India just to get one.

I find it fascinating to read how the ESV-CE is both the most awaited and the most distributed Bible. That's a bit like being both the most rare and most common at the same time.

I wonder how long it will take for the lectionaries based on the ESV-CE to be published and promulgated in India.
