I'd be interested in a side-by-side comparison of this with the Ignatius RSV-CE New Testament and Psalms. If the paper is a matte white and has a larger font, this would be great for praying the psalms and having readings for the Rosary!

This is great! Thank you Lenny!
The Daughter's of St. Paul publish some wonderful titles.
Their translation of Imitation of Christ is my favorite to date (more so than the translation by Msgr. Knox and Evelyn Waugh). It's beautifully rendered and includes prayer and reflection after each chapter. I would definitely recommend investing in this edition - constructed in blue leatherette, gilded and rounded page edges, ribbon (if I remember correctly - don't have it with me at the moment), etc...

That's the best looking page layout I've seen on a strictly reading basis for the New American Bible!

I do like the look of the page layout. Like Ed Rio, I'd be interested in how this compares to the Ignatius NT and Psalms. I use that quite a bit simply because it's a lot smaller than any of my full Bibles, but the print isn't too tiny to comfortably read. But I really like that this one has single column text. I'd be interested to know how thick it is.

Perhaps my favorite thing about the sample pages is that the cross-references are at the bottom of each page, but the notes are at the back. Oh, how I wish I could get a full NABRE like that! I like having the notes handy, but I find them distracting on the page with the biblical text. But I do like having the cross references on the page.

(sigh) Yeah, I'll buy it. . . but then I'll have to buy the new edition in 7 years when they're done the revision of the New Testament of the NAB.

1300 pages for the NT and psalms? That seems like a lot.

1300 pages is a lot, but that is an indication that they tried to make the type big enough to actually be able to read it, which is a good thing.

I just looked at the preview pages on the Pauline website, and the biggest positive in my view is the single-column page layout. I'm a sucker for single-column layouts. Now, granted, they're especially nice for the poetic books of the Old Testament, but a well-done, single-column New Testament (like the Cambridge REB New Testament) can be very pleasing to read.

I wish there was more margin space.

Margins? In a NT small enough to fit into your pocket? I cannot imagine being able to write in something that small anyway.

Great to see this coming out now. This has been missing on the Catholic scripture marketplace -- a good NT + Psalms in the excellent revised New American Bible translation. Even with the NT getting long in the tooth now, it is still arguably the best translation of the NT on the market in English right now. And the Psalms are a huge improvement over the earlier NAB translations of the Psalms.
