I've bought Bibles for my fiance (then girlfriend) as birthday presents before, and this past Father's Day I got my Dad the New Cambridge Paragraphed KJV in goatskin - but I've never given a Bible as a Christmas present, nor have I ever received one, either.

No, because I won't give something that I would not receive myself, and goatskin and full grain calf aren't in the Christmas-gift price range.

Colleague: where do they sell the NCPB in goatskin? I have the old full size one in shiny French Morocco (I think it's a sheep skin of some type) and the new, smaller one in the matte black calfskin.

I had to send one (one of the hardcover editions) off to Mechling to get it rebound in goatskin. Not even Allan's sells them wrapped in goat right off the bat; I checked.

It must have been the calfskin. My mistake. Nicest Bible he's ever owned, though.
