Possible Image of LRCSB Deluxe Edition?

I spotted this image here. We will see in the next few weeks if this is accurate.

Thanks for the link. I also noticed on that web site a link for a translation called the Christian Pastoral Bible. Do you anything about that version, Tim?

Russ said...

Christian Community Pastoral Bible to be exact.

Russ,

For more info, I had a guest review done on this a couple years back: http://catholicbibles.blogspot.com/2010/09/christian-community-bible-guest-review.html?m=1

Thanks, Tim.

That web site looks like a scam site to me. For example, you will notice that the embedded video has nothing to do with the actual study Bible. Further, notice how they apparently copied all the material from this page but did not get the paragraphing right. The photoshopping of the cover design is quite crude.

There are dozens of other errors I could point out.

Theophrastus,

I wonder if the errors you mentioned are due to it being a site developed outside the US. Notice that it mentions a publication date of Jan 2012 in Asia/Africa. But on the other hand, you bring up the possibility of it being photoshopped, so I guess time will tell.

I saw this Bible today at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress. Little Rock Catholic Scripture Study has a booth there and I was able to check out the display copy. The synthetic leather cover is nice, it has two ribbon markers, and despite this being a heavy Bible, it felt good in the hand. And the photo you have on your blog here Timothy, is what the Bible looks like.

Rolf,

Excellent reporting! :)

Did they give a time when it would be available?

rolf said...

No, but they were taking pre-orders. Since I already have the hardcover (which I already tabbed and put a leather bible cover on it) I probably won't be purchasing it.

Rolf,

Which leather bible cover did you get for it and do you like it?

Rolf,

One other question: Are the time-lines that are on the back covers of the hardcover also in the leather editions?

I got this one thru Amazon. It is great! Soft supple leather; lots of pockets, zippers, interior pen loop. The picture makes it look like a "purse" (which was a total turn off for me) but the actual thing is not feminine at all. And you can't beat the price.

Rolf,

Yet another question, did the leather edition have a sewn binding rather than being glued?

Oops forgot to give the Amazon link for the leahter cover. Sorry...http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TCXF1U/ref=wms_ohs_product

Timothy, I talked to Catherine Upchurch at the Religious Congress today and she said that it will be about two weeks and they will have the Bibles in their warehouse. The inner covers on the front and the back have the timeline just like the hardcover edition. In fact the Bible seems the same except for the synthetic cover, the two ribbon markers, the curved corners and gold edges of the paper. I didn't check but I think it is glued like the hardcover. One thing I forgot to ask about was the price, did she ever tell you Timothy?

Anon, the cover that I have is made by 'Gregg Gift Company', it is black leather and is XL. It has a zipper on the front cover. I bought it at a Christian store about 4 years ago for $35-$40. It fits this Bible very well.
