Yup got this one too for use with Confirmaton kids. Have the budget but to be honest not sure I would use it. Its very "European" in style and rough in translation (IMHO)but a good step forward in catechetics. I was actually kind of disappointed that it seemed so ill-prepared in layout and graphics for a publication meant for youth and young adults. Looks as is an old guy in a curial office put it together with a Sister giving a few tips from back in the day when she worked with youth. Sorry to be so critical but I call it like I see it (maybe i need new glasses...LOL)
I'm not a kid, but I liked YouCat a lot. I actually thought YouCat was better than the US Catholic Catechism for Adults. I especially enjoyed the quotes in the margins.
Tim, how does it work at your school? Does the school purchase textbooks for children, or are they responsible for purchasing books themselves. If the latter, it is only $15 on Amazon, so maybe you could require students to purchase a copy.

I really like the Youcat as well. It explains the Church's teachings in a straight-forward and understandable way that manages to relate to how adolescents and youth see things. The quotes in the side are also good, though I've found that they can be a bit repetitive. Another thing that is nice is that it "follows" the CCC pretty closely, so someone can use it as an introduction to the Catechism.

As a youth (23), I think Youcat serves its target audience well.
