Ignatius Catholic Study Bible New Testament Delayed?
According to Vladimir, posting on the Catholic Answers Forum, the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible: New Testament publication date has been pushed back to June. Although I can't find any confirmation of this on the Ignatius site, Amazon.com does confirm this. Although this is only a few months delay, when combined with the reality that it has taken 10 years to get only the New Testament completed is a bit disappointing. Perhaps my rather light-hearted suggestion that the complete Ignatius Catholic Study Bible (Old Testament and New Testament) wouldn't be published until 2020 isn't so far off. Hmm.... Any thoughts?

Don't mind waiting a few more months as long as a leather bound edition is added. Let us hope. :)
They did however drop the price on Amazon.com for the paperback from $20 to $15.
It is really disappointing, frankly. But maybe we'll get a better product out of it.
Very disappointing indeed. By the time the complete Ignatius SB comes out, there might be 10 or more new Protestant SBs released in the market.
Ignatius did add a leather and a hardback edition on their website. This is not offered on Amazon site yet, they just have the paperback edition listed.
Qohelet,
I am with you. The overall lack of urgency on this project is a bit disappointing. I get all the logistics that have to go into this project, plus the fact that there are only 2-3 people doing the commentaries, but it really shouldn't take this long. If there aren't enough people doing the work, then add some more to help out.
Rolf,
I wonder if the leather is the same as the bonded leather RSV-2CE they sell?
Tim, if I was a betting man I would guess that it will be the same. I don't have a problem with that, my leather Ignatius RSV-2CE has held up well to daily use for nearly 4 years.
Rolf,
Yeah, I have seen some that have held up, but some others that are just falling apart. That is why I got mine rebound.
Are you still using the RSV or NRSV mostly these days?
I use the RSV-2CE for my Liturgy of the Hours (Psalms and readings) daily and for study. I use the NRSV and REB also for devotional reading (flows a little smoother). And I use the NAB for my Bible study and RCIA classes (since that is what most people use). And sometimes those positions get switched around (except the Bible study and RCIA classes.)
" this is only a few months delay" following delay after push back after delay after ... well, yeah. It's very disappointing and frustrating as I have continued to recommend this volume in classes I lead.
Just picked up mine today at Acadian Religious in Lafayette, LA!!!
