I am so EXCITED! i've been waiting for this ever since the german version came out! The YouCat Bible with the YouCat is going to be a game changer for Catholic youth and young adults!
It has been labeled as an "abridgment" so I wonder if it is the entire Bible?
It is listed as having 432 pages, probably has selected Bible passages.
I'm not happy about an abridgment, but I'll stay optimistic until we see it.
I like the RSV but a more accessible translation would be better.

Aw man! Don't be abridged! The RSV-2CE in a new format, with awesome notes and illustrations? You know, that thing I think a lot of people thought would never happen? Please, don't be abridged.
I want to add to my accessible comment from earlier. My experience is that the audience for this bible finds scripture hard to understand. They need something easier to understand so it means something to them. I would personally want the kids in my religious education to read something like the Good News or the Message. I understand the issues with obtaining the rights to these and how easy it is to use the RSV but I can pray for something different right?
I used the RSV every year in my 8th-grade confirmation class. I don't believe it's challenging at all and the kids seem to have no real issues reading the stories or memorizing scripture.
Definitely abridged.
In which case, can we technically call it a "Bible?"
Clearly it's a book of scripture readings, but if it's not a complete text of scripture, isn't it a "devotional text" or a "book of spiritual readings?"
I flipped through the book today. One of the things that was removed is anything the Bible says about sex that is controversial today.
They leave in a verse about not selling your daughter as a prostitute, a verse about not having sex right before Moses comes back with the Ten Commandments and part of the Song of Songs.
Everything else involving sexual morality has been "abridged".
Just bought this book today, and was immediately 'astonished' by the confusion caused by the title BIBLE.
Something seems amiss! It would have been more truthful to title it as an aid to understanding the Bible' rather than Y BIBLE ( in Bold)
Ian, your observations are 'interesting' in light of what the Austrian Diocese of Cardinal Schonborn thinks of the Sixth commandment and the new teachings of Amoris Laetitia
