Slightly off topic, but I found this exciting and haven't heard about it elsewhere: I've been told by a contributor that a fully updated version of the New Jerome Biblical Commentary is currently being worked on that will be to the current NJBC what the NJBC was to the JBC. Have you heard about this?
I wonder who would be working on the Jerome Bible project given that the original editors are all dead. Isn't that a little like announcing a new Beatles album, but with none of the original members?
What is the point of keeping the Jerome Bible name at this point, why not just make a brand new commentary with a new name?
This: "Can you tell us the latest news in regards to a full one volume OT/NT Ignatius Catholic Study Bible RSV-2CE?" Reminds me of: "Can you tell us the latest news on when the Apocalypse will take place?"
"Can you tell us the latest news on when the Apocalypse will take place?"
Or, can you tell me when George RR Martin will publish his next 'Song of Ice and Fire' book?
Anyway, can someone provide a source for the claim that the Jerome Bible is being revised? I searched over the weekend and could not find any information.
C'mon, you guys. I don't think you're being fair. Ignatius Press has made numerous comments over the years, some to this very blog, making it very clear that the ICSB will be complete by 2015. So lay off! ;-)

ReplyDeleteI had not heard about this, but that is very exciting news indeed!
DeleteTimothy,

Hi Jason!
DeleteI have heard nothing and Ignatius is unwilling to make any comments about it. I've stopped asking them.
Also, do you have any word on the NABRE-2025?
ReplyDeleteDo you know if it's on the agenda for the annual meeting of the CBA in August?
My understanding is that it is still on track for a 2025 release. All of that depends on the approval process.

Maybe because they want to attract the same fan base and add more? *shrug*
