Bono & Eugene Peterson on The Psalms

  1. I showed this video to my high school Theolgy classes yesterday. Great way to encourage youth to honest and open when praying. The Message is a nice way to encourage Scripture reading at home while emphasizing the need to study literal translations as well. . Bono's love of the powerful impact of Scripture really shines through in this video. Hopefully all of those who watch this video will be inspired to start reading the Bible not as a dry textbook but as an immersion into God's passionate love for his people.

  3. I would love to see an audiobook of Bono reading the Psalms from The Message version. My favorite part of this video was Bono reading from Psalm 40. Such a great voice and it looks like he has a very deep connection to the Psalms and this translation in particular....would really like to hear more.

  4. I like at the end when Mrs. Peterson told Bono not to run up the steps as he was leaving!

  5. That was a very good video! What struck me the most was the discussion about honesty, and the grittiness of the Psalms..and many other parts of the Bible for that matter. Has there been something lost in wanting God's Word to read like a literary masterpiece when Jesus was born in a stable and had basically a trough for a crib?
Prostitutes, tax collectors, the disabled, outcasts...all felt drawn to Him. Our first pope was a fisherman who, was good hearted, but tended to put his foot in his mouth and act without thinking things through. I know I can relate to Saint Peter on a few of those things.

I might have to start praying the Psalms more.

  7. wow, what an amazing video. I've never really listened to U2 music. All I knew of Bono was associated with his political views. This was really refreshing. I ended up listening to a ton of his music after watching this video and couldn't be more impressed - especially this song, 40.
