Knox Rebound: It is in the Mail

  1. The turnaround on this seemed awfully quick. How long did it actually take them? Usually Margie quotes ~4 weeks.

  2. Tim believes he shipped it during the JP2 Papacy

  3. It does seem like an awfully long wait when your daily Bible is sent away for a month. I was sort of disappointed after my last rebind from Leonard's. The printing on the spine was messed up. The wait, much less the cost, hardly seemed worth it, I hate to say. That Bible now sits on a shelf untouched. Shame, really.

I hope that your revision turns out as expected and that it proves to be a durable, lifelong companion for you!

  4. It's a good opportunity to explore other translations though; I read a lot of my (Old) Jerusalem Bible whilst my RSV-2CE was at Leonard's.

I also had a poor experience with a rebind from Leonard's, with one mangled printing on the spine, one poorly-spaced imprint on the spine which actually wrapped to the cover, glue (???) spots all over the gilt edges, etc. I still do read that Bible almost every morning, except when I'm running behind schedule and can only use a computer + the Lectionary. I'm almost certainly done with rebinds these days, spending most of my religious book funds on Logos titles.

  5. The foregoing experiences should have been brought to Margie's attention.

  6. Why? So that their craftmanship on future people's bibles is better than that which was executed on our own?

  7. No no, I wouldn't want them to improve craftsmanship. I'd only want you to rub it in. I also wouldn't want to see you get a re-rebind. ;)
